One of the first questions we hear at Naples Computers is: “How long is this going to take?” It’s a fair question — your laptop is probably how you work, pay bills, keep up with family, or run your business. You need it back.
The honest answer is: it depends on the repair. Here’s a realistic breakdown so you know what to expect before you even walk in.
Same-Day Repairs (A Few Hours)
- Screen replacement — Most laptop screens we stock or can source quickly. Once the part is in hand, the swap takes 1–2 hours.
- Keyboard replacement — Usually 1–2 hours depending on the model.
- Battery replacement — Often under an hour for standard models.
- Virus and malware removal — Typically 2–4 hours. Severe infections may take longer.
- Software tune-up — Clearing junk, removing startup bloat, updating drivers — usually a few hours.
- RAM upgrade or SSD swap — The physical part takes under an hour; data migration adds a few more.
Next-Day or 1–2 Day Repairs
- Charging port repair — If we have the part, same day. Otherwise, 1–2 business days for parts.
- Operating system reinstall — The process takes several hours. Usually done overnight and ready the next morning.
- Blue screen diagnosis and fix — Diagnosing the cause takes 1–2 hours; fixes vary from a driver update (same day) to a hard drive replacement (1–2 days for parts).
2–5 Day Repairs
- Water damage recovery — The drying and assessment phase alone takes 24–48 hours. Cleaning corrosion and testing components can extend the timeline to 3–5 days.
- Motherboard-level repair — These require component-level diagnostics and are the most time-intensive. We’ll give you a realistic estimate upfront.
- Data recovery from a failing drive — Depends on the severity of the failure. Logical failures (software, corruption) are often faster than physical ones.
What Slows Repairs Down
The biggest delay in any repair is parts availability. Older or less common laptop models sometimes require parts that aren’t stocked locally. We order parts quickly and keep you updated, but it’s worth mentioning your model when you call so we can check inventory before you come in.
