Many Naples businesses got their email the easy way: they registered a domain at GoDaddy and added “Microsoft 365 from GoDaddy” at checkout. It works, and for some businesses it’s all they need. But as a company grows, many owners want to manage Microsoft 365 directly or through a local Microsoft Partner. A GoDaddy Microsoft 365 migration makes that switch. Naples Computers, Inc. has completed hundreds of email migrations, and we switch GoDaddy Microsoft 365 accounts to a direct Microsoft 365 subscription with zero downtime. Your mailboxes stay right where they are.
When you buy Microsoft 365 through GoDaddy, GoDaddy is your provider. You purchase the licenses from GoDaddy, pay GoDaddy, manage much of the account through GoDaddy’s own dashboard, and contact GoDaddy for support. Your mailboxes still run on Microsoft’s service, but the account is set up and administered through GoDaddy.
There’s nothing wrong with that arrangement. Moving to a direct subscription simply changes who you buy from and how much of the Microsoft 365 platform you manage yourself, or have your IT partner manage for you.
The most common reasons we hear come down to control, flexibility and support:
None of this requires moving your domain name or your website. They can stay at GoDaddy. Only the management of your Microsoft 365 changes.

Admin control. With a direct subscription, your organization holds the administrator accounts for its own Microsoft 365 tenant. That means full access to the Microsoft 365 admin center for users, licenses, security policies, sharing settings and reporting, without a reseller dashboard in between.
Licensing flexibility. You can choose from Microsoft’s own range of business plans and add-ons, rather than the packages a reseller chooses to offer, and match each person to the plan that fits how they work.
Support. Instead of calling a national hosting company, you have a local Microsoft Partner in Naples who knows your setup and can come on-site, help remotely, or see you at our shop at 2308 Immokalee Rd. After the move, our Microsoft 365 management service can handle day-to-day administration for you.
Here’s the good news: your mailboxes don’t have to move at all. GoDaddy’s Microsoft 365 already runs on Microsoft’s service, so we take your existing Microsoft 365 tenant out from under GoDaddy’s management, a process often called “defederating.” Your email, calendars, contacts and files stay exactly where they are. Here’s how it works, in plain English:
Mail keeps flowing the whole time. Your mailboxes never move, so there’s no email downtime; the only thing your team notices is signing in with a new password.
Have old PST archives on your computers? We can import those so they’re searchable again. Here’s how to open and close a PST file in Outlook.
During the switch we also set up multi-factor authentication and spam and phishing filtering with N-able Mail Assure, and we’ll talk with you about backing up your Microsoft 365 data.
A few quick signs: your email renewal bill comes from GoDaddy, the product is listed in your GoDaddy account as Microsoft 365 or “Email & Office,” or GoDaddy branding appears when you sign in to Outlook on the web. If you’re still not sure, give us a call and we’ll check for you.

No. You keep the same domain and the same email addresses.
Yes. Because sign-in moves from GoDaddy to Microsoft, each person gets a new password. We help everyone sign in and set up multi-factor authentication.
No. Your mailboxes stay in the same Microsoft 365 tenant, so email keeps flowing the whole time. The only change your team notices is signing in with a new password.
Only after your new direct Microsoft 365 licenses are in place and everyone is signing in through Microsoft. GoDaddy licenses can’t be transferred, so we line up the new ones first and tell you when it’s safe to cancel. Check your GoDaddy renewal date when planning so the timing works for you.
Your mailboxes run on Microsoft’s service, but the subscription is sold, set up and supported through GoDaddy. Switching to a direct subscription keeps the same mailboxes and puts your business in charge of its own tenant.
Yes. We also migrate IMAP and POP email, including web-host and provider email, to Microsoft 365.
