Try These In Order

Most OneDrive sync issues are tied to file path length, file type restrictions, or sign-in/account problems. Walk through these to find the cause.

  • Check OneDrive icon in system tray for error message
  • Pause and resume sync
  • Sign out of OneDrive and sign back in
  • Check file path length (Windows has a 260 character limit)
  • Check for unsupported characters in filenames
  • Check available disk space
  • Reset OneDrive (settings command in Run dialog)
  • For SharePoint sync issues — relink site
  • Update Office to the latest version
